GRAEME HOLMES - Director - Senior Engineer

Director of the Company, Graeme Holmes, is a Chartered Professional Engineer who has over 30 years' experience in all facets of Engineering. Graeme is also a Chartered member of the Institute of Engineers (AUST).

DANIEL SHORE - Associate Director - Engineer/Designer

Daniel Shore, Associate Director of HSS Structural & Civil Engineers, has over 10 years' local Engineering experience. Growing up in the Port Stephens community, Daniel developed an interest in Engineering. Upon completion of his Higher School Certificate, Daniel began studying Engineering in Newcastle. He gained on the job experience working part-time as an Engineering Designer during his tertiary education then, on completion of his studies, went on to full-time employment.
Daniel is involved in all aspects of HSS structural and civil design. He enjoys working with architects, builders, owners and council to achieve a design that satisfies all parties, following the project from the design stage, through council approval, through to the building stage and then being able to view the completed construction.
Daniel has a beautiful wife and two daughters. In between work and family life, Daniel enjoys music and playing golf.

ANNE POWELL - Office Administrator

Anne Powell joined our team as Office Administrator, bringing with her a wealth of admin expertise.
Anne moved to Port Stephens 7 years ago from New Zealand, where she and her husband owned a manufacturing business for 16 years.
Her extensive admin experience in a busy business, allows Anne to cover a wide range of duties at HSS, from active tracking of clients and jobs in our custom-designed database, to accounts functions and responsibilities.
Anne is passionate about Port Stephens and spends her leisure time enjoying the beautiful beaches, bush walks and local golf courses.

PHILIP PIKE - Structural Designer/ Draftsperson

Philip Pike joined the HSS team 2 years ago, bringing with him over 5 years' experience in structural design in the Hunter Region. With a keen interest in the construction industry, Philip studied Engineering on the Gold Coast, where he completed his degree. He has gained valuable local knowledge through various seminars conducted by the Foundations and Footings Society of NSW.
Philip's role at HSS sees him enjoying the challenges of ensuring structural designs are suited to the clients' needs, while remaining sensible and practical from a building perspective. When Philip is not at work or spending time with his wife and baby boy, you will find him playing rugby for the Maitland Blacks.

JARRAD TONNING - Apprentice Structural Designer/Draftsperson

Jarrad Tonning is 3rd year full time Apprentice Design Draftsperson.
Jarrad has grown up in the Port Stephens area and holds a keen interest in Engineering and building design. After completing his School Certificate, Jarrad pursued his interest in design/drafting, studying CAD Operations & commencing his Certificate IV in Structural Design at Newcastle TAFE.
Jarrad’s role, as part of the HSS drafting team, involves structural designs, including slab designs, which demands knowledge of the Australian Standards. Outside the workplace, Jarrad loves hitting the local beach, surfing, spear fishing and boating.

IAN SORENSEN - IT/Database Development

Ian Sorensen is a valuable part of our design and drafting team, as well as managing all our IT and database development needs.
After completing his School Certificate in the 70’s, Ian has spent over 30 years in the heavy engineering sector as a tradesman, leading hand, foreman and production controller in Australia and overseas. Ian has Australian and International trade certificates in a number of trades. After his return to Australia in 1981, Ian successfully gained his Structural Engineering Certificate at the Newcastle Technical College. Ian was the recipient of the College Medallion for four years and received the State Bronze Medallion in his final year of the course in 1986.
Ian’s wealth of experience and knowledge gained from his educational qualifications, trade and supervisory experience makes him an essential part of our team. Ian uses his high standard of computer knowledge to design, develop and maintain our custom-designed database, which allows for active tracking of all clients and projects in our portfolio.
Outside of the workplace, Ian's interests include home improvements, movies, documentaries, computers, science shows, browsing the Internet, music, books and magazines.

LOGAN PRATT - Apprentice Structural Designer/Draftsperson

Logan Pratt is the most recent addition to our team, commencing a 4 year Apprenticeship, including Certificate IV in Structural Design at Newcastle TAFE.
Logan has grown up in Port Stephens, completing his HSC in 2010, which included Engineering Studies and Metals & Engineering. He has long been interested in Engineering as a career and is keen to advance to diploma/degree in the future.
Outside the workplace, Logan is keen on anything ocean, including surfing, fishing and boating.
